This menu contains AppleScripts which let you create GIF and JPEG images from a PICT file or from an image in the Clipboard. The images are created by using the freeware application clip2gif. The current settings in clip2gif's Options menu are used for interlacing, color depth etc, when converting an image. The created image file is saved in the same folder as the frontmost page in PageSpinner, and an IMG tag for the image is inserted in the frontmost PageSpinner document. The original PICT file remains unchanged, and any spaces are removed from the name of the new image file to make the name web safe. Note that any previous image with the same name in the page's folder is automatically deleted. The scripts must be in the folder named "Clip2gif Files" inside PageSpinner's Extensions folder. Additional info: Graphics containing text and icon-type images will look better when saved as GIF images. The JPEG format gives best result when you are working with images that are photographs or computer generated 3D objects / landscapes. JPEG images saved in the format 16 bits/pixel looks best when the monitor is set to display thousands of colors or more. clip2gif is a utility program by Yves Piguet for converting PICTs, GIFs and JPEGs to any of these formats. clip2gif can be found on many ftp archives, including info-mac (in gst/grf or grf/util), Umich (in graphics/graphicsutil) and their mirrors, under the name "clip2gif", "cliptogif" or even "clip-to-gif".
